Materials: local, sustainable, and less toxic
All adhesives, sealants, paints, coatings, carpet and wood are low VOC (volatile organic compound). This reduces the level of potentially toxic or harmful organic chemical compounds that can enter the atmosphere as gases or vapor.
More than 50% of the wood-based materials and products are Forest Stewardship Council certified, which ensures the wood came from a forest managed in an ecologically sustainable manner.
More than 10% of the building’s materials are local. The materials and products have been extracted, harvested or recovered, and manufactured within 500 miles of the site.
